Science Fiction comes closer to Reality! EXPO21XX opened online exhibition number 20 - The ROBOTICS 21XX - demonstrating the variety of today's robot technology
(PresseBox) - To appreciate the impressive progress in robotics and it's importance as a key technology of the future EXPO21XX.com has opened a new exhibition platform to make the latest and ongoing development available to a wider audience.
Important industrial manufacturers and research facilities get a new possibility to show their innovative products and solutions in an even more sophisticated form. At the same time the visitors get a comprehensive overview of the entire spectrum of the robotics branch in 48 e-halls.
The Industrial Robots section displays a whole range of robots. Most of these robots are developed to effectively optimize industrial processes. Scara Robots for example, which are constructed similar to the human arm, can be fitted with different tools, such as grippers to assemble and pick-and-place appliances up to 200 kg.
The consumer robotics section shows the gradual transition in the field of robotics. Especially The development of humanoid robots has made significant progress in the last years. Impressive walking robot systems were developed. The abilities of these robots to manipulate objects or interact with their surrounding are improved. Most of these robots are equipped with high-performance software and improved sensors to autonomously navigate three-dimensional spaces and assist in tasks such as environmental observation and vacuuming.
Some of the leading research facilities and universities such as DLR, MIT or the Universities of Washington and Oslo present their running projects in the field of Humanoid & Androids Research. An innovative and equally exceptional project is Mobile Humanoid "Rollin' Justin" by DLR. This mobile robotic system with its compliant controlled light weight arms and its two four finger hands is an ideal experimental platform for these research issues. The newly developed mobile platform allows the long range autonomous operation of the system. The individually movable, spring born wheels match the special requirements of "Justin's" upper body during manipulation tasks. PMD sensors and cameras allow the 3D reconstruction of the robot's environment and therefore enable Justin to perform given tasks autonomously.
