Altona refreshes Board with two new non-executive Appointments
•Paul Hallam appointed Non-Executive Director
•Steve Scudamore appointed Non-Executive Director
•Heikki Solin and Fiona Harris retire from the Board
Altona Mining Limited (“Altona” or “the Company”) has refreshed its Board with the appointment of two new non-executive directors; Mr Paul Hallam and Mr Steve Scudamore, and the retirement of Mr Heikki Solin and Ms Fiona Harris.
The appointments take immediate effect.
Altona Chairman Mr Kevin Maloney said, “The appointment of Paul Hallam and Steve Scudamore injects new blood, new energy and new thinking to our Board. I welcome the arrival of two highly qualified and experienced directors who will play important roles as chairs of two of our Board Committees. On behalf of my fellow directors I welcome Paul and Steve to Altona Mining and I wish to express my sincere thanks to Heikki and Fiona for their tremendous contributions to the Company throughout their years of service to the Board, and wish them well in their future endeavours.”
Paul Hallam
Mr Hallam is qualified mining engineer with a BE(Hons) Mining from Melbourne University, a Certificate of Mineral Economics from Curtin University and a Company Director’s Diploma from the Australian Institute of Company Directors, and holds Fellowships of both the Australian Institute of Company Directors and the Australasian Institute of Mining & Metallurgy. He currently serves as a director on several Australian company boards, including Gindalbie Metals Group Ltd and Enterprise Metals Ltd, and has a wealth of industry experience and over 15 years’ experience as a director of various publicly listed companies, government and industry bodies.
His former executive roles include Director of Operations for Fortescue Metals Group Ltd, Executive General Manager Development & Projects for Newcrest Mining Ltd, Director Victorian Operations for Alcoa and Executive General Manager Base and Precious Metals for North Ltd. Mr Hallam also held senior mine management/development roles for Battle Mountain Gold Company in Chile, Bolivia and Australia, and for Alcoa, Newmont and North Ltd in Australia in both underground and surface mining operations.
Mr Hallam has been appointed to the role of Chairman of the Remuneration and Nomination Committee and a member of the Audit and Risk Management Committee.
Steve Scudamore
Mr Scudamore is chartered accountant with a Master of Arts from Oxford University, a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants, England, Wales and Australia (FCA), a Fellow of the Institute of Company Directors (FAICD) and a Senior Fellow of the Financial Services Institute of Australia (SF Fin).
Mr Scudamore’s career includes 28 years as a partner at international accounting and financial services firm KPMG, where he served as a member of KPMG’s Global Energy and Natural Resources Group, a Member of the KPMG Australian Corporate Finance Executive and Board, and Chairman of Partners in Western Australia.
He currently serves as a non-executive director on the boards of Aquila Resources Limited and MDA Insurance Pty Ltd, and holds board positions on industry, government and community boards, including as a Trustee of the Western Australian Museum, Chairman of Amana Living Incorporated (formerly Anglican Homes), and a Member of Council at Curtin University. Mr Scudamore is also a senior advisor to Lazard Australia.
Mr Scudamore will replace Fiona Harris as Chairman of the Audit and Risk Management Committee.
Heikki Solin and Fiona Harris
Mr Heikki Solin has retired from the Board after more than six years, and Ms Fiona Harris has resigned from the Board for workload reasons after almost five years. The Company is very grateful for the efforts of these directors who were instrumental in the merger that created Altona, and who have assisted the Company in successfully transitioning into profitable production.
Appendix 3X forms for the newly appointed directors and Appendix 3Z forms for retiring directors, will be lodged with the ASX after market close today.
