Pierburg manufacturing exhaust-gas recirculation systems in Kunshan/China

German first-tier auto-industry supplier branching out in Asia

(PresseBox) - Pierburg China Ltd., a member of the KSPG Group, which in turn belongs to the Rheinmetall Group, has opened in Kunshan (Greater Shanghai) a new production plant. The internationally operating first-tier auto-industry supplier is manufacturing at this additional facility in China pneumatic exhaust-gas recirculation valves and electric throttle valves to be followed, very soon, by the production of solenoid valves. Pierburg China Ltd. Is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Pierburg GmbH, Neuss, Germany. Operating on the international automotive markets for over a century, this company is a longstanding development partner of the worldwide automotive OEMs.
On contemporary cars, the recirculation of the exhaust gases is a key element in complying with present and future emission norms. For the Chinese auto industry this technology is of prime significance with the coming into force in March 2013 of the new exhaust gas standard Beijing 5 (later to be renamed National 5). What's more, the advent of the new limits is but a step to the adoption of the even stricter Euro 6 to be launched in the Chinese capital starting from 2016.
"Our aim is for our own extensive expertise in pollution reduction to accompany the implementation in China of the new emission limits. With our own local production plants we are, moreover, well poised to respond very flexibly to the needs of our customers on the Chinese market," explains Dr. Gerd Kleinert, CEO of KSPG AG.
Among the focal points of the KSPG Group are technologies for lowering CO2 emissions and fuel consumption as well as reducing the weight of car and engine components. With annual sales of ?2.3 billion in 2012, KSPG ranks among the 100 biggest suppliers of the international auto industry and employs a worldwide workforce totaling 12,000.
At currently nine production plants in China the KSPG Group manufactures pistons, cylinder heads, engine blocks, throttle valves and exhaust-gas recirculation systems as well as variable on-demand oil and electric coolant pumps. Augmenting the product array are parts in original equipment quality for the aftermarket. Through its joint ventures KSPG has since 1997 been present on the Chinese market with an aggregate headcount of some 3,500.
