Electric Mobility Canada Commends British Columbia on Extending Electric Vehicle Incentives for Consumers

(firmenpresse) - VANCOUVER, BRITISH COLUMBIA -- (Marketwire) -- 03/26/13 -- Electric Mobility Canada (EMC) and its members are pleased with the BC Government announcement to extend its Clean Energy Vehicles for BC program. The announcement by Environment Minister Terry Lake provides BC residents with another 12 months during which they can receive financial incentives from the BC Government for purchasing clean energy vehicles including electric vehicles.

"Consumers in BC have been leading the nation in the purchase of electric vehicles and this program extension will further entrench this pattern in future vehicle purchase decisions. Electric vehicles lead all other technologies in the reduction of emissions, particularly in BC where the production of electricity is mainly from renewable sources," said Dr. Matt Stevens, Chair of EMC.

"British Columbia has a legacy of leadership in advanced technology vehicle programs and it was one of the first Canadian provinces to provide an incentive to buyers of electric vehicles. This extension sends a clear signal to the auto industry and to consumers that the BC Government is serious about continuing its green transportation initiatives," said James Rowland, Chair of EMC's Government Relations Committee.
