United Power Technology meets revenue target
- Consolidated revenues increase by 10.7 per-cent to 111 million Euros
- Strong growth in commercial generator segment in line with group strategy
- EBIT increased from 11.9 million Euros to 15.3 million Euros
Eschborn, Germany, March 27, 2013 - United Power Technology Group, one of
the leading manufacturers of engine-driven power equipment in China, showed
a positive development during the fiscal year 2012. Despite a challenging
macroeconomic environment and a particularly difficult first quarter, the
company was able to exceed its revenue growth target, which was
communicated in its 2011 annual report. United Power improved its
consolidated revenues by 10.7 per-cent, amounting to 111 million Euros
(2011: 100.3 million Euros) while the EBIT increased from 11.9 million
Euros in 2011 to 15.3 million Euros.
The adjusted EBIT (adjusted for one-off IPO related expenses) remained
almost unchanged at 16.5 million Euros due to a lower gross margin and
increased administrative expenses as a result of being a public listed
company. This represents an adjusted EBIT margin of 14.9 per-cent, which is
slightly below the company's target due to a further unexpected Renminbi
appreciation towards the end of 2012. At 12.6 million Euros, net profit
increased by 3 million Euros as compared with the previous year's figure
with earnings per share increasing from 0.85 Euros to 1.02 Euros. Adjusted
net profit was 13.8 million Euros compared to 14.2 million Euros in 2011,
resulting in adjusted earnings per share of 1.13 Euros.
Facing an uncertain global economic environment, especially the challenging
conditions in Europe due to the Euro and debt crisis, United Power saw a
small decrease of sales to European end customers by approximately 2
per-cent. The weakness in Europe however was more than offset by strong
growth in North America and in the company's domestic market China as well
as in other new markets (e.g. CIS, AMER, APAC). Revenues by end users in
North America and other new markets increased strongly by approximately 22
per-cent each in 2012 compared to the same period last year. United Power's
domestic sales in China also improved significantly by approximately 16
per-cent.
As the residential generator segment sales dropped slightly by
approximately 3 per-cent to 54.5 million Euros, United Power will further
aim to grow in its commercial generator segment, which grew by
approximately 44 per-cent to 50.6 million Euros compared to 2011. The
dynamic growth of the commercial generator segment is in line with the
company's growth strategy to expand sales of increasingly larger
generators.
United Power Technology AG will publish its full annual report for fiscal
year 2012 on April 18, 2013.
