Essanelle Hair Group presents the Annual Report 2012
Sales figures at EUR 126.5 million after EUR 127.2 million
Earnings before taxes in the upper range of projection with EUR 6.0 million
Dividend recommendation at last year's level: EUR 0.50
Düsseldorf, 28 March 2013 - In the past financial year 2012, Essanelle Hair
Group AG has generated sales of EUR 126.5 million. Although this means a
decrease by 0.6% after recording EUR 127.2 million in the previous year,
sales revenues range above own projections. Because of the sale of the Top
Ten concept salons, sales figures were expected to range 1-2% below
previous year's results.
Achim Mansen, Chief Executive Officer (CEO): 'Measured against our
expectations, we are content with the sales performance in the financial
year 2012. Here, we benefit very strongly from a significant improvement of
our sales on a comparative basis. This also shows the success of the
reassessment of our salon portfolio in the past years. Nevertheless, our
goal will remain to grow our sales again in the coming years.'
The individual concepts performed as follows: The salon concept
HairExpress, which is targeted at price-conscious customers, generated EUR
41.5 million in the past financial year, after EUR 38.6 million in the
previous year, and therefore recorded a growth of 7.6%. The trendy Super
Cut concept recorded an increase of 3.9% with EUR 22.9 million compared to
previous year's level of EUR 21.6 million. The concept essanelle Ihr
Friseur generated sales of EUR 54.7 million after EUR 56.6 million in the
previous year (-3.4%). The Beauty Hair Shops, which specialise in the sale
of exclusive hairdressing products, increased proceeds to EUR 7.3 million
after EUR 6.9 million in 2011, therefore achieving a growth of 6.9%.
Earnings before taxes at the upper end of the projected range
Regarding the earnings figures, Essanelle Hair Group generated an EBITDA
(earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization) amounting
to EUR 10.8 million after EUR 11.8 million in the previous year (-7.9%).
Earnings before taxes (EBT) were EUR 6.0 million and thus ranged about 6.5%
below previous year's results of EUR 6.4 million. At the beginning of 2012,
the Management Board projected an EBT of between EUR 5.5 million and EUR
6.0 million. Because of reduced tax expenses, the consolidated net income
increased by 3.6% to EUR 3.9 million, after EUR 3.8 million in the previous
year. Likewise, earnings per share increased to EUR 0.87 after EUR 0.84 in
the previous year. In this context, the Management Board and Supervisory
Board will propose a dividend in the amount of EUR 0.50, equal to previous
year, at the Annual General Meeting.
Achim Mansen: 'We were aware of the fact that we would not be able to
increase earnings because of the record result of the previous year, and
due to the foreseeable declining sales performance. It is important for us
to keep the overall good earnings level and to be able to continuously pay
a high dividend to our shareholders. For this, we will continue to rely on
profitable growth in the future to be able to compensate as far as possible
for steadily increasing energy and wage cost expenses .'
For 2013, the Management Board expects sales revenues to range 1-2% above
the financial year 2012, and for earnings before taxes to again be within
the range of EUR 5.5 million to EUR 6.0 million.
