BMO Not-For-Profit Services Announce Grant Recipient From The Leon V. & Dorothy M. Skubitz Foundation
Pittsburg State University's Foundation Receives $50K for Center for the Arts
(firmenpresse) - PITTSBURG, KS -- (Marketwire) -- 03/28/13 -- BMO Not-For-Profit Services, a part of BMO Financial Group and a division of BMO Harris Bank N.A., announced today the selection of The Leon V. & Dorothy M. Skubitz Foundation 2012 grant recipient. Pittsburg State University's Foundation will receive $50,000 for the university's Center for the Arts.
Mr. and Mrs. Skubitz, longtime Pittsburg residents, left their estate in trust with BMO Harris Bank to create a Foundation that would award annual grants to be used exclusively for charitable purposes, with strong preference given to Crawford County, Kansas.
"Carrying on the Skubitz's legacy of strengthening and improving the quality life in Crawford County is something we are proud to be a part of by selecting each year's grant recipient," said Brad Smith, Kansas City President, BMO Harris Bank. "We are confident that each grant will not only benefit the chosen organization, but will be utilized in a way that truly helps our community succeed as a whole."
BMO Not-For-Profit Services announced the establishment of The Leon V. & Dorothy M. Skubitz Foundation in July 2008 when the initial 2007 grant was distributed. The grant selection process includes participation by BMO Harris Bank's Pittsburg Advisory Board of Directors.
Since its inception, the foundation has distributed $259,025 to the Kansas community. Past grant recipients include the Mount Carmel Foundation, For Scott Community College Endowment Association and the City of Pittsburg.
The reception was held at 3 p.m. on March 28 at BMO Harris Bank's 417 North Broadway Street location.
