TACA Offers Autism Action Plan to Support Autism Awareness Month in April
The Centers for Disease Control's New Survey Finds That 1 in 50 School-Aged Children in the United States Are Diagnosed With Autism

(firmenpresse) - IRVINE, CA -- (Marketwire) -- 04/01/13 -- Addressing the alarming increase in the rate of children diagnosed with autism, Talk About Curing Autism (TACA) has launched an awareness and activation campaign to help families living with autism. The Centers for Disease Control recently reported the results of a new survey. Today in the United States, 1 in every 50 school-aged children is diagnosed with autism, a 46% increase from the 1 in 88 number the agency released in 2012.
"Autism is an epidemic and families need our support more than ever," said Lisa Ackerman, co-founder and executive director of TACA, a national non-profit dedicated to assisting families affected by autism.
TACA provides parent mentor programs, empowerment and education through support groups, webinars and scholarship programs among other services to families affected by autism.
In support of Autism Awareness month in April, TACA has created an Autism Action Month Campaign to provide practical tools to companies and individuals who want to get involved. This campaign aims to educate, empower and inspire help with simple solutions to support families living with autism.
Some of TACA's April programs include: 8th Annual Family & Friends Campaign, Jeans Day for Autism, Pay it Forward (membership for vendor discounts, special event access and promotional items), Hearts for Hope (consumer fundraising promotion), Change for Change, Cars 4 Autism, a vendor marketplace program and additional programs for corporations and individual participation.
