L2 Consulting Services, Inc. Receives STC for the Installation of ACARS Data-Link on 767 Series Aircraft
(firmenpresse) - AUSTIN, TX -- (Marketwired) -- 04/02/13 -- L2 Consulting Services, Inc. (L2) is pleased to announce that the company has received a Supplemental Type Certificate (STC) for the installation of the Aircraft Communications Addressing and Reporting System (ACARS) Data-link system on 767-200/300 series aircraft. This new STC (ST11124SC) also includes VHF-3 and Interactive Display Unit (IDU) options.
Overall, the system consists of a Rockwell Collins CMU-900 (Communications Management Unit), an IDC-900 (Integrated Data-link Controller), an APM-900 (Airplane Personality Module), VHF-700 or VHF 900 (VHF Communications Transceiver) and Panasonic printer. The system allows for faster and more accurate communications with Air Traffic Control and airline operations thereby improving safety and efficiency of airline and airspace operations.
L2 Vice President of Operations, Dean Rudolph, said, "We are pleased that L2 remains at the forefront of installing and certifying such important avionics systems." He added, "This recent STC successfully addresses the Controller Pilot Data Link Communication (CPDLC) mandate."
The L2 STC installation includes two configurations. The first configuration provides for a complete ARINC 758 ACARS installation with integration of the VHF voice/data system, as both require the same access for wire routing and component installation. The second configuration provides for an upgrade from an existing ARINC 724B ACARS installation to a full ARINC 758 ACARS installation.
For this STC, L2 developed integration engineering, produced aircraft installation kits and provided overall project management for the STC regulatory process.
