Greenvironment wins new contracts for the construction of three biogas plants
(firmenpresse) - - Strategy change pays off
- Focusing on 200 kW microturbine
- Competitive advantage thanks to remote monitoring
Berlin, 4th August 2010 – In recent weeks, Greenvironment GmbH, a 100% subsidiary of Greenvironment plc, has acquired a number of new orders in Germany. Overall, there are three plants in the biogas area with an electrical installed power of 1 MW and a sales volume of around 1.45 million Euro. Commissioning of the plants is expected in Q4/2010 and Q2/2011.
In two plants, the exhaust of the microturbine is directly used in order to dry fermentation residues and fertilizers. All plants include heating applications that require a high thermal efficiency, which was among other things the decisive factor for the microturbine plant of Greenvironment.
The clear focus on the implementation of various plant concepts for the new projects is the use of air bearing 200 kW microturbines, which do not use oil and water in the system. Depending on the application, these turbines provide 200 kW and 345 kWth, have an electrical efficiency of 33.0 percent or a total efficiency of 91.9 percent and convince with a lifespan of at least 10 years.
Peter Dorner, COO of Greenvironment plc, commented: "Greenvironment is much more than a reseller of Capstone microturbines. What we have done in the course of three years of hard development work goes well beyond the distribution of microturbines: a microturbine can - and we have learned especially from our own operated plants - only show its advantages when the peripheral equipment - these are in our case: compressor unit, control and monitoring - forms a unity with the turbine."
Matti Malkamäki, CEO of Greenvironment plc, added: "Meanwhile Greenvironment builds complete CHP plants in the biogas sector primarily with 200 kW microturbines, which have replaced the previously used 65 kW microturbines of the first generation and have a much better electrical efficiency. Our customers benefit from a high availability, low service and maintenance requirements and a good operating efficiency, especially with the new 400 kW-plant design, consisting of 2x200 kW microturbines. In addition, all plants are integrated in our central SCADA system for remote monitoring. "
Thanks to the self-developed SCADA (Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition) system of Greenvironment all important data from the programmable controller of the plant is displayed on site in real time, is saved and can be evaluated. All functions can also be controlled from a remote location. For archiving the data and for remote servicing, the plant is connected to a central database in Berlin. One great advantage of remotely monitored cogeneration plants is that with a permanent connection to the main control centre, faults can be detected at an early stage and alarms are triggered immediately. This shortens the response time and prevents expensive downtime.
