Why not try out one of Haven's nature trails; with a route running between Dorset parks Weymouth and Seaview, through the local nature reserve. Both routes will offer purpose built equipment on route for the kids to enjoy.
Haven's flagship park, Devon Cliffs, lies on the furthest point of the World Heritage Jurassic Coastline. Start at the Geoneedle at Orcombe Point and enjoy miles of stunning walking terrain as the South West Coast path follows 180 million years of geological history. There is a great amount of wildlife in this area, with dolphins and sharks amongst the many visitors to the coastline. On the other side of the coast, Perran Sands, just south of Newquay, is within Penhale Sands - the second largest dune system in the country. A full-time Park Ranger is on hand to lead guided walks through the dunes to explore the flora and fauna (look out for orchids and adders!) or follow the trail to the oratory of St Piran who landed here in the seventh century and reputedly discovered tin - mainstay of the Cornish economy for centuries.
If you fancy something a bit more daring, why not visit the Snowdonia National Park area of North Wales. Presthaven Sands, Hafan y Mor and Greenacres are all within reach of the peak and offer the perfect setting for an uphill ramble. There are plenty of tourist information centres in which you can find suitable routes of different lengths and difficulty. If you are a group of confident walkers, you can take on the challenge of mounting the peak head on but, for the more relaxed, there is the alternative of the Snowdonia Mountain Railway. Take the kids with you on the train - the easier way to take in the great view and remember to pack a picnic and take a letter to post in the mail box at Snowdonia's peak!
For a holiday not directly on the coast, why not visit one of our Great Yarmouth parks. Wild Duck is nestled in the heart of the Norfolk Broads, a great area from which to discover great woodland, valley and disused railway courses. Visit for more ideas on getting active in the region or go on an adventure with the kids, following the winding ways of the famous Norfolk rivers, and see what you come across! The area offers old windmills, historic ruins and picturesque villages to provide you with your afternoon tea. If you do take a walk down the Norfolk coast, look out for seal families, as this is a regular seal breeding hotspot.
When you've taken off your walking boots for the day, you'll find plenty to do on the parks. There are golf courses, fishing lakes, free sports coaching and heated swimming pools with slides, SplashZones and facilities - Devon Cliffs even boasts a spa, perfect for rejuvenating after a long, coastal walk.
