LeBron James Selected as the Hickok Belt(TM) Award Winner for March 2013
(firmenpresse) - ROCHESTER, NY -- (Marketwired) -- 04/12/13 -- Miami Heat forward LeBron James has been selected as the Hickok Belt Award winner for the month of March 2013. Voting was conducted by a select panel of members of the National Sportscasters and Sportswriters Association (NSSA). James was selected based on his outstanding performance throughout March, a month in which the Miami Heat went 17-1 to establish an NBA record for the most wins in a single month. During that stretch James averaged 25.8 points, 8.2 rebounds and 7.4 assists per game while shooting 53 percent from the field.
Other finalists for the month of March in order of how the NSSA voters ranked them included: Tiger Woods (golf), Sidney Crosby (hockey), Jenn Suhr (track & field), Sergei Bobrovsky (hockey), Stacey Lewis (golf), Mitch Seavey (dog sled racing), Rafael Nadal (tennis), Maria Sharapova (tennis), and Jason Belmonte (bowling).
James's selection as the Hickok Belt Award winner for March 2013 recognizes him as "the best of the best" in professional sports for the month and makes him the third candidate eligible to receive the 2013 overall award, joining previous 2013 monthly winners Colin Kaepernick and Joe Flacco.
