Atea has reduced the company's total amount of CO2 emissions with 18% per
employee.
A new report states that Atea is on the right track working towards reducing the
company's total CO2 emissions. In six years the total reduction of CO2 emissions
per employee is now 18%, and Atea is getting closer to the target of reducing
the CO2 emissions per employee by 2015 with 25%.
Environment and green energy are highly prioritized business areas for Atea and
the annual "Carbon Footprint"-report provides a close overview of Atea's CO2
emissions. The reason that Atea still succeeds in minimizing their CO2 emissions
is the intense focus on cutting down the company's transportation to and from
meetings and the energy optimization of electricity and heating.
"The latest results show that it actually has a great impact to focus on video
meetings, car sharing and using intelligent technology, that helps to reduce the
electricity and heating consumption in our offices. To succeed in reducing the
CO2 emissions the management needs to plan initiatives and processes, but the
real challenge is met by our 6,300 colleagues who ensure the great results day
by day," says Group CEO Claus Hougesen, Atea ASA.
Intelligent electricity saving installations
As part of the green initiatives Atea has built a new low energy domicile in
Aarhus, Denmark, where electricity, ventilation and heating installations plus
server rooms are regulated by advanced IT technology. Around 50% of all
companies' current operating expenses are used on energy. This expense is
reduced with around 25-30% in the new domicile. A lot of other Atea offices are
going through massive renovations in 2013 that also focus on energy consumption
reductions through intelligent IT technology and electricity saving
installations.
Despite a general growth at Atea the total CO2 emissions are still decreasing.
The results are due to Atea's implementation of action plans that are an
integrated part of the 'Greenhouse Gas Management standard' ISO 14064-1. Atea is
also participating in CDP (the late Carbon Disclosure Project). For the second
year in a row, Atea takes a place on the top three over companies, who works
seriously with bringing down the negative environmental burden.
