Earth Day Microsite Provides Unique Content on Effects of Climate Change and Global Warming

(firmenpresse) - SAN FRANCISCO, CA -- (Marketwired) -- 04/22/13 -- Weather Underground, the world's first online weather service, announced today, that it has launched an Earth Day microsite within its popular weather website, . In celebration of Earth Day, it is now live at .

The Earth Day microsite provides a one-stop-shop for anyone looking to uncover the facts about global warming, changes in extreme weather, or looking for an in-depth understanding of why global warming is happening and what we can do to reduce the acceleration of climate change. Bringing a wealth of knowledge on the cause and effects of climate change, it includes testimonials from a variety of climate experts and scientists, unique videos, and much more.

Weather Underground's expert contributors provide insight into the science that proves the Earth is in fact changing and why it's not a natural phenomenon, but rather man-made. "The historical records show us that abrupt climate change is not only possible -- it is the normal state of affairs. It behooves us to learn as much as we can about the climate system so that we may be able to predict when the next abrupt shift in climate will come," says Dr. Jeff Masters, Director of Meteorology for Weather Underground.

Earth Day is a tradition more than 40 years old and gives us the opportunity to think about our impact on the Earth and ways that we can continue to protect it. "We need to look beyond traditional conservation efforts," says Angela Fritz, Atmospheric Scientist for Weather Underground. "Today the Earth is being threatened by climate change: the Arctic is melting, extreme weather is becoming more common, and we're seeing more drought and wildfires, but we can do something about it."
