Endurance Welcomes Christopher Smith to Head New Ocean Marine Insurance Unit

PEMBROKE, Bermuda - May 6, 2013 - Endurance Specialty Holdings Ltd. (NYSE:ENH),
a Bermuda-based specialty provider of property and casualty insurance and
reinsurance, announced that Christopher Smith joins the company today as Senior
Vice President to build and lead a new Ocean Marine insurance unit writing
bluewater hull, brownwater hull, marine liability and cargo coverage. Over his
30 year career, Mr. Smith has focused exclusively on marine insurance,
developing strong underwriting expertise in this niche market.

Mr. Smith joins Endurance from XL Insurance where he launched their Hull
business in 2000 as part of a team that started XL's Marine and Energy
Department. He then went on to become Product Head for XL's Marine Offshore
Energy lines in the Americas and served as Chief Underwriter for that business
for the last 5 years. Prior to that, Mr. Smith was a marine underwriter with a
focus on bluewater hull accounts at Reliance National, American International
Marine Agency (AIG) and American Hull Insurance Syndicate. He holds a Bachelor
of Science degree from Manhattan College.
