WSSC Goes Live with Riva Modeling Asset Management Suite
(firmenpresse) - TORONTO, ONTARIO -- (Marketwired) -- 05/09/13 -- Riva Modeling Systems Inc., is pleased to announce that after an eight-month implementation, the Washington Suburban Sanitary Commission (WSSC) has gone live with their Riva-based decision support system (DSS), on time and on budget. The system, based on Riva's DS software, allows the large water utility to effectively manage their treatment, collection and distribution linear and plant-based infrastructure assets. By applying asset management principles to investment decision making, WSSC is now able to move toward building a truly realistic long-term asset investment and management plan.
The first phase was completed in four months. During this phase, Riva installed the software and configured the model, based on WSSC's current asset management best practices and documented procedures. Riva loaded the data for over $1.5B worth of assets and then reviewed and validated the solution with WSSC.
In the second phase, Riva worked closely with the core team at WSSC, integrating the system to the various source systems for assets and condition, including Oracle WAM (Work and Asset Management), Esri GIS and others. Then the investment plans were regenerated using real-time data, and validated to ensure consistency with the historic plan using live data.
The final phase of the project was to allow WSSC staff to utilize the flexibility of the Riva solution to make improvements to the historical model. By putting the elements of asset management into the hands of WSSC's systems managers, the planning process becomes flexible, repeatable, and much more economical and efficient. This was completed on April 8, 2013.
Finally, the Riva DSS system was deployed to WSSC's new IBM Websphere 8.5 and Oracle Exadata framework, the first application at WSSC to be deployed to this high-speed framework.
The project was completed prior to the projected completion date, within the allocated budget, and WSSC system staff are now in full control of their asset management processes.
