Medical Imaging Team Day 2013
(firmenpresse) - OTTAWA, ONTARIO -- (Marketwired) -- 05/13/13 -- Medical Imaging Team Day will celebrate its 2nd annual event on Thursday, May 16, 2013. To mark this event, important new resources will be launched: a brochure created to provide patients with a better understanding of what will happen when they are referred for a medical imaging test, a brochure for referring healthcare professionals to assist them in selecting the most appropriate procedure, and a poster for clinics and waiting rooms to enhance awareness of medical imaging.
Many Canadians have, or know someone who has, undergone a medical imaging procedure. It is one of the fastest-growing medical specialties today, yet most people know very little about medical imaging, its benefits and its risks. Medical imaging examinations include x-ray, MRI (magnetic resonance imaging), CT scan (computed tomography), ultrasound and nuclear medicine.
This day celebrates the imaging team, comprised of physician radiologists, physicists, sonographers and technologists, who give back to the community and to the Canadian healthcare system by sharing their expertise on topics that improve the quality of patient care.
Medical imaging team representatives will be on site to launch these new information resources and to answer questions in the auditorium of the Ottawa Hospital, General Campus, 501 Smyth Road, Ottawa, Ontario, on Thursday, May 16 at 10:00 a.m. This event is open to healthcare professionals and to the public. Representatives of the Canadian College of Family Physicians of Canada and patient advocacy groups have also been invited to attend.
