Black & White Auto Takes Action to Go Green

(firmenpresse) - COLORADO SPRINGS, CO -- (Marketwired) -- 05/23/13 -- Black & White Auto Body & Paint, a family-owned shop specializing in collision repairs in Colorado Springs, Colorado, is taking a proactive step to go green. Black & White Auto has replaced its automotive paint with PPG's Envirobase High Performance waterborne automotive paint, which is safer for the environment and Black & White's employees.
Many automotive paint systems can be toxic for both the environment and employees administering paint. Certain solvents release harsh odors and lead to poor air quality within a shop or spray facility.
Waterborne paint contains lower volatile organic compounds (VOC) than most regularly-used solvents. These VOCs are released as gases from certain solid or liquid substances, including paint, cleaning supplies, pesticides and adhesives. These gases may lead to short and long-term negative health effects.
"It's not mandatory for auto shops to use a waterborne paint system in Colorado," said Randy Hoffman, regional manager for Single Source Inc., a PPG platinum distributor. "But it's a proactive step for auto body shops to go green."
In addition to increasing employee safety, shops using PPG's Envirobase help protect air quality, which is also negatively affected by VOC gases. This type of waterborne paint still achieves the same high performance and quality, including easy application and an excellent color match.
"We're happy to announce we've seen the same, if not better, results," said Rick Lujan, owner at Black & White Auto. "We're protecting the environment and our employees."
Black & White Auto Body and Paint has been servicing Colorado Springs, Colorado, since 1955 and is the premier auto body shop for collision repairs on any make and model, including foreign and domestic cars and trucks, hybrid models and other vehicles such as RVs and fleet trucks.
