S.r.l. has engaged Geoffrey M. Curley & Associates to co-develop a traveling
exhibition for art, natural history, and science museums throughout North
America.

Chiurazzi started building its collection in 1890, when the Italian Ministry of
Cultural Goods and Activities chose the company to go into the National
Archeological Museum in Naples to take moulds of every art work in the Museum.
With exclusive access, this collection of moulds, taken directly from 100's of
original masterpieces in the greatest museums of Italy and elsewhere, increased
to where it is now described as "the most expansive collection of artistic
bronze sculpture moulds ever to be assembled - in the history of the world."
For more than 120 years, The Chiurazzi Collection of moulds has been used to
replicate Masterpieces for an exclusive selection of famous museums and
discerning collectors.
The Exhibition, which is under development and is expected to be available to
museums by January 2015, is titled, "The Lost Wax Method: Preservation of
Italian Sculpture" will showcase lost wax casting and how this method ensures
that Italy's sculpture heritage is preserved for future generations. The
Exhibition will be an interactive and instructional exhibit celebrating the
craft and technique of bronze casting, the generations of artisans who replicate
them, and the Italian artists who created them.
Chiurazzi has made available its full archive for the Exhibition, which includes
masterworks of Michelangelo and Bernini as well as cast art and artifacts from
Pompeii and Herculaneum.
To fully understand the casting processes that have been mastered by generations
of artisans, visitors to the Exhibition will physically participate in each step
of the bronze casting. Experiences will include how to prepare wax moulds, wax
detailing, pouring bronze, welding components to complete the structure, hands-
on tooling, and mixing and applying the patina.
Geoffrey M. Curley & Associates develops and designs cultural exhibitions with a
strong focus on creating experiences that are educational, emotional and content
driven. They are known for popular exhibits such as "Diana, the People's
Princess" and the "City of the Future".
