(firmenpresse) - VANCOUVER, BRITISH COLUMBIA -- (Marketwired) -- 06/04/13 -- On Wednesday, June 5, BMO employees in Vancouver will be helping with the preparations for the Loving Spoonful's signature event, Project Empty Bowl.

The event will be part of the second North America-wide BMO Volunteer Day, with 5,600 employees across Canada and the U.S. rolling up their sleeves to give back.

"Since its inception in the early 1990s, Project Empty Bowl has fed thousands of individuals with AIDS locally and tens of thousands globally," said Mark Stafford, District Vice-President, Vancouver Centre, BMO Bank of Montreal. "We are proud to be able to assist with this signature fundraising event for A Loving Spoonful."

About A Loving Spoonful

A Loving Spoonful is a volunteer-driven, non-partisan Society that provides free, nutritious meals and nutritional counselling to men, women and children affected by HIV/AIDS in Metro Vancouver. Every week, all year round for over 23 years, our dedicated base of volunteers use their own vehicles, gas and time to deliver food and snack packs including milk, bread, yogurt, fresh fruit and juice to those in the community who need it most. Providing over 100,000 meals per year, A Loving Spoonful's goal is to ensure that every individual living with HIV/AIDS in our community has the adequate nutrition required to give them a fighting chance at life.

BMO Volunteer Day

BMO Volunteer Day is a legacy of BMO Harris Bank in the United States, which launched the event in 2001. In recent years, the initiative has expanded to include all of BMO Financial Group. This year, BMO Volunteer Day will take place on June 5th; it will include approximately 7,000 employees participating in more than 450 projects in communities across Canada and the U.S.
