Top Components for exclusive mobile phones(firmenpresse) - The English manufacturer of luxury mobile phones Vertu has launched a new model. As the previous models Signature S, Constellation Quest and Ayxta, the so-called "VERTU Ti" consists of high-quality components, among others of 18 carat red gold.
The Heraeus Business Unit Functional Materials supplies all parts which are used for the Mixed Metal variant in 18 carat red gold. These are all visible shell parts, keys and borders in the titanium case.
Due to the very high demand for quality of Vertu, the manufacturer relies once again on the know-how of Heraeus. All parts of red gold are not only manufactured and installed at a precision to the hundredth of a millimeter, but also polished extravagantly by hand. Thus the precious metals and technology group does not only achieve the high gloss surface, but also the required quality.
Dr. Hans-Jürgen Wachter, Global Manager of the Business Unit Functional Materials at Heraeus, explains: "The cooperation and the high prestige of the brand Vertu open up new possibilities of cooperation in this interesting market niche to Heraeus in the Swiss luxury watch industry and also worldwide in the luxury jewelry sector."
Demands on Material and Manufacturing
Heraeus meets all demands with regard to dimensional accuracy, optics and surface properties. Also the Heraeus Quality Management System which is really similar to the requirements in the automobile industry passes the test recurrently with the highest scores.
Highly complex production processes allow a continuing precise machine processing at the highest stage in order to produce also tiny precious metals design elements in a constant high quality.
Based on only the 3D data the basis for the perfect dimensional accuracy is layed via 5-Axes-CNC milling processes.
Also the partly automated laser welding processes merge the parts safely under the compliance of the high precision.
However, due to the complex form the experienced eye of a person is needed when polishing and inspecting the components in order to polish the surfaces sharp-edged and free of defects.

At Vertu the mobile phone is put together by hand by a single employee and signed personally.
