Mao Dun lived here from 1974 until his death. The place appears in the list of protected sites of Beijing.

Mao Dun (1896-1981) was the pen name of Shen Dehong, a native of Tongxiang in Zhejiang province. Among his works include the novel and short stories Midnight The Lin Family Shop and Spring Silkworms. He published an edition of his complete works.
