The international VDI conference "Biomass to Energy" on 3rd and 4th September 2013 in Munich will present current options for an efficient use of biomass

(PresseBox) - The Renewable Energy Directive (RED) has set the mandatory target of replacing at least ten per cent of fossil fuel needs with energy from renewable sources from 2020. Building on the first international successes, the international VDI conference "Biomass to Energy" on 3rd and 4th September 2013 in Munich will demonstrate the various feedstock flows, potentials, and will discuss options for energy use.
Conference chair Dr. Jan Grundmann of Vattenfall Europe New Energy, and other international experts from across Europe will give presentations on the latest technical solutions. International associations such as the World Bioenergy Association (WBA), the European Biomass Association (AEBIOM) and EUREC Agency are also supporting the conference. As well as explaining new developments in European legislation and the economic and political context, experts from Finland, Sweden, Poland, England and Germany will be providing insights into their own countries and answering questions on feedstock flows, logistics, finance and examples of technical best practice.
Research institutes of renown will be giving reports on torrefaction in terms of process and quality optimisation, and on hydrothermal carbonization (HTC). A whole section will deal with the technology, process and commercial progress of gasification of biomass. One of the highlights of the event will be progress reports by six European operators: Vattenfall Heat AB Sweden, Dong Energy, Dalkia France, as well as VCS Denmark, DP CleanTech Group, and RWE Innogy. In addition, Ortner, GASEK, Renewable Energy Technology International Ltd and International Paper, among others, will also be providing interesting talks.
