The Fraser Institute: Property Rights Key to First Nations Prosperity: Report Coming Thursday, June 20

(firmenpresse) - VANCOUVER, BRITISH COLUMBIA -- (Marketwired) -- 06/19/13 -- The Fraser Institute will release a new report examining how granting property rights to aboriginals, including the right to buy and sell land on reserves, could increase the economic and social well-being of Canada's First Nations, on Thursday, June 20 at 6:30 a.m. (Eastern).
The Wealth of First Nations: An Exploratory Study examines why some Canadian First Nations have succeeded in achieving noticeably higher levels of prosperity, as measured by the federal Department of Aboriginal Affairs' Community Well-being Index, compared to others.
"Property rights are critical to economic growth and social well-being. On June 21, National Aboriginal Day, let's have a frank discussion about providing First Nations people the same property rights as their fellow Canadians, for the betterment of aboriginal communities and the country as a whole," said Ravina Bains, associate director of the Fraser Institute Centre for Aboriginal Policy Studies.
A news release with additional information will be issued via Marketwire on Thursday, June 20 at 6:30 a.m. (Eastern).
