"Transparency is critical to ensuring public confidence in our system of government and to those making donations to not-for-profit organizations. No electronic record of a business license, fictitious business statement, corporation (non-profit, unincorporated, or otherwise), lobbyist or non-profit registration could be identified in Mr. Beeber's name or for SaferStreetsLA or the California Motorists Association, organizations that Mr. Beeber has represented in a variety of public forums.

"If there is any failure to file the required documentation, wrongdoing or conflicts of interest, PIW will identify them and work with the appropriate agencies to ensure a satisfactory resolution," Fein continued.

"PIW encourages members of the public to share any information that may help in this inquiry or any other situation in which a not for profit organization fails to meet legal disclosure and conflict of interest guidelines or standards as required by law. PIW encourages anyone with a tip or suggestion to visit our website said Lewis Fein, PIW Executive Director.

Public Interest Watch (PIW) was established in 2002 in response to the growing misuse of charitable funds by nonprofit organizations and the lack of effort by government agencies to deal with the problem. PIW works to fight charitable trust abuse by exposing individual cases of abuse and advocating for stronger governmental oversight, including requirements for greater transparency and financial disclosure by charitable and other not-for-profit organizations.

PIW is a Washington, DC-based nonprofit corporation, with additional offices in California. PIW is a 501(c) 4 tax-exempt organization, which means contributions to PIW are not tax-deductible.
