(Thomson Reuters ONE) -
KONE Corporation, press release, July 3, 2013
KONE has won an order for 131 elevators and 32 escalators for the Zhengzhou
Eastern Center in the capital of Henan province in north-central China. The
office and retail complex is set to be the tallest twin tower structure in
China. It will include two 289-meter towers and a seven-story shopping podium,
and cover a total floor area of 7.6 hectares.
The order for the North and South Towers and podium includes 12 KONE double-deck
elevators, which will provide increased transportation capacity by serving two
floors at once. The double-deck elevators will travel at a speed of 5 m/s and
their travel distance will be 123.4 meters. Ninety-three KONE MiniSpace(TM)
elevators with a top travel speed of 7 m/s, and 26 KONE MonoSpace® elevators
will also be delivered. In addition, KONE will install 32 KONE TravelMaster®
escalators at the site. The KONE E-link monitoring system will help manage the
numerous elevators and escalators operating in the complex.
"We are delighted that KONE's innovative People Flow® solutions will be featured
in this landmark structure. Continuous communication between the customer and
the project team enabled us to understand the customer's needs and provide them
with the best possible solutions for the project," said William B. Johnson,
Executive Vice President for KONE Greater China.
The developer of the Zhengzhou Eastern Center project is the Greenland Group,
one of China's leading real estate companies. The super high-rise twin tower
complex was designed by the Architectural Design & Research Institute of Tongji
University. The contractor for the North Tower is Shanghai Construction No.2

The building, which is currently under construction, is scheduled to be
completed in the third quarter of 2016. The order was booked in the first
