Canada's Fire Chiefs Congratulate Minister Toews for His Tenure as Minister of Public Safety
(firmenpresse) - OTTAWA, ONTARIO -- (Marketwired) -- 07/08/13 -- Today, the Canadian Association of Fire Chiefs (CAFC) extended its appreciation and best wishes to Hon. Vic Toews as he departs his role as Minister of Public Safety.

The CAFC has worked closely with Public Safety Canada on a number of public safety issues during Toews' tenure as Minister. Specifically, the CAFC worked with Minister Toews to establish the Volunteer Firefighter Tax Credit, which recognizes the vital services provided by more than 80,000 volunteer firefighters in Canada. This credit helps recruit and retain the brave men and women who are the backbone of emergency response services in rural Canada.
The CAFC appreciated the important support provided by Minister Toews leading to the Government of Canada's announcement of the initial designation of spectrum in the 700 MHz band for the exclusive use of public safety. The CAFC also acknowledges the Government of Canada's significant financial commitment to the Fallen Firefighter Memorial, which is located in Ottawa.
"The Canadian Fire Service has made significant steps forward working with the federal government as a result of Minister Toews' leadership," added Gamble. "We were fortunate to have him as a champion for the Canadian Fire Service. On behalf of our Association, I wish him well in his future endeavours."
