Easier Financing of EU Migration Projects

Easier Financing of EU Migration Projects

ID: 27772

To finance migration or integration projects different funding sources can be used. On the one hand there is money the European Refugee Fund, the European Fund for the Integration of Third-Country Nationals or the European Return Fund. On the other hand EU structural funds can be a financial opportunity. Combining both means more efficiency and more money for the project.

(firmenpresse) - New Ways of Synergies between different EU-Funds

The European Commission offers different funding opportunities which can be used for Migration programmes. Three Funds of the General Programme „Solidarity and Management of Migration Flows“ (SOLID) are relevant for financing migration and integration projects: European Refugee Fund (ERF), European Fund for the Integration of Third-Country Nationals (EIF) and European Return Fund (RF). Within the period of 2007-2013 these programmes offer 2.129 billion Euros.

Some actions can also be financed through the Structural Funds as the European Social Fund (ESF) or even the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF). Most times there is no exchange or cooperation regarding the project targets or actions of the Structural Funds and the SOLID Funds. This often leads to inefficient programme management or even double financing of projects.

Combining best already existing financing structures within the different funds is necessary for the success of migration and integration projects. Each funding programme has its special focus, actions and funding criteria. The European Seminar of the European Academy for Taxes, Economics & Law will deals with following topics:
•How to finance migration projects?
•What are Eligibility Rules of different funding opportunities?
•How to use Technical Assistance as financial resource?
•Evaluation – How to conduct the projects successfully?
•Monitoring and On-the-Spot Checks
•Comparison: ESF/ERDF – ERF, EIF, RF
Date of Event:
7th – 8th March 2011, Berlin
