Media Advisory: Canadian Armed Forces Contingent to Honour the Fallen at Groesbeek Canadian War Cemetery

(firmenpresse) - OTTAWA, ONTARIO -- (Marketwired) -- 07/17/13 -- On July 18, a Canadian contingent of over 200 marchers participating in the 97th annual International Four Days Marches Nijmegen will visit the Groesbeek Canadian War Cemetery in the Netherlands. The contingent will stop two-thirds of the way through their daily 40-kilometre march to pay their respects to over 2300 Canadian soldiers and airmen who died in the various battles to liberate the Netherlands in 1944 and 1945.
Attending the event will be the following VIPs: Wladyslaw Lizon, Member of Parliament for Mississauga; Brian Macdonald, Member of New Brunswick's Legislative Assembly; Honorary Colonel Elisabeth Rybak of 8th Canadian Hussars (Princess Louise's); Honorary Lieutenant-Colonel Sol Rolingher of 1 Military Police Regiment (Edmonton); Shawn MacDougall, Director of Access to Information and Privacy, Veterans Affairs Canada; Comrade Chris Blondin of the Royal Canadian Legion; and Lieutenant-General Walter Semianiw, of the Canadian Armed Forces, seconded to Veterans Affairs Canada as Assistant Deputy Minister, Policy, Communications and Commemoration.
