ID: 280076

(firmenpresse) - OTTAWA, ONTARIO -- (Marketwired) -- 07/19/13 -- Mr. Gordon Moore, Dominion President of The Royal Canadian Legion, announced the creation of The Royal Canadian Legion Riders' program for motorcycle enthusiasts today at Dominion Command.

"Many members of the Legion are also motorcycle enthusiasts," says Gordon Moore, "and they have asked the Legion to create a motorcycle group to help generate awareness about the Legion, its community engagement across the country and its services to our serving and retired Veterans, RCMP personnel and their families," added Moore.

The Legion presented the first Legion Riders' jacket to former Dominion President and motorcycle enthusiast, Comrade Jack Frost, Canadian Army Veterans founder, Paul "Trapper" Cane; the Honourary President of the UN/NATO Veterans Association of Canada, Mr. Reno St. Germain and Dominion Secretary, Comrade Brad White, earlier today at Dominion Command.

For many Canadians, being part of a motorcycle group provides them with a great way to enjoy and share one of life's great passions. It is more than a hobby; it is a representation of their lifestyle. Creating the Legion Riders program gives people a new opportunity to combine their love of motorcycling with their passion for supporting Veterans, the Canadian Forces and RCMP personnel and their families as well as engaging in community service work.

About the Legion Riders' Program

Created as a result of Legion Membership demand, the Legion Riders' Program was launched on 19 July 2013 with a view of creating comradeship among Legion motorcycle bike enthusiasts. Plans are currently underway to organize a Legion Riders' bike tour from national headquarters in Ottawa, ON to the next national Legion convention scheduled for June 2014 in Edmonton, AB. Details to follow.
