Nationwide named Best Online Banking and Overall Online Provider

(firmenpresse) - LONDON, UNITED KINGDOM -- (Marketwired) -- 07/23/13 -- customers now have even more control over how they manage their money following a raft of improvements to the Society's digital banking services; its online bank and mobile banking app. The changes come as Nationwide is named "Best Online Banking Provider" and "Best Overall Online Provider" in the Your Money Direct Awards 2013.

Savers can now easily check the interest rate they are getting on their savings accounts via the online bank or with a new function that also automatically updates their accounts if rates change. For ISA savers, there's a new online bank function that tracks how much they have paid into their ISA account so they don't miss out on maximising their tax-free savings allowance.

FlexAccount and credit card customers are now able to use their online bank to tell Nationwide when they are travelling overseas and planning to use their cards, instead of having to notify the Society by phone. For those people who like to book their holidays well in advance, customers can use the function to inform Nationwide up to 12 months before they travel.

In addition to all the improvements to its , Nationwide's top-rated mobile banking app has also been given new functions enabling customers to do more via their smartphones, including managing their current account overdraft and viewing their mortgage payment summaries. Since it was launched in November 2012, Nationwide's mobile banking app has clocked up almost 700,000 downloads, is regularly used by 400,000 customers and now accounts for a quarter of all the Society's digital banking activity.

The developments are part of Nationwide's philosophy of using digital technology to give customers more power and choice to manage their finances the way they want, whether online or via smartphone, as well as using traditional methods such as telephone banking and in branch.

This approach is borne out by Nationwide's triumph in the Your Money Direct Awards 2013 where the Society won "Best Online Banking Provider", "Best Online Credit Card Provider" and "Best Overall Online Provider".

Paul Cooper, Nationwide's Head of Digital Banking, says: "Digital banking, whether online or via a smartphone, is rapidly growing in popularity with our customers who want more control over how and when they do their banking. Our online bank and mobile app have been designed to give them this control and are constantly evolving to provide more functionality.

"Nationwide spends a lot of time seeing how people access our products and services and getting their feedback on what they like and what improvements they want, which is fed back into our development process. Our success in the Your Money Direct Awards clearly shows that we are on the right track and are giving people the best digital banking service in the UK."
