Greythorn Wants to Find Jobs for Candidates in Growing Industry

On October 1, 2014, the number of codes in the International Statistical Classification of Diseases (ICD) will expand from approximately 17,000 to more than 145,000 diagnosis and procedure codes. These updates published by the World Health Organization (WHO) and required for all HIPPA 'covered entities,' will impact every aspect of the healthcare industry, and hospitals nationwide will employ more full-time IT professionals to prepare for these changes. In order to best support the industry through this transition, Greythorn will allocate regional resources to finding the most qualified professionals who specialize in ICD-10 transitions.
"There are incredible opportunities right now for individuals who want to work with or are proficient, with Epic and Cerner software, as well as those experienced with ICD-10," says Greythorn's Central Regional Manager, Erin Herda. "We expect the healthcare IT industry will have high demand for qualified applicants throughout the next year."
ICD-10 professionals will have many opportunities for contract as well as full-time employment as hospitals and medical offices begin their transition to become up-to-date on the new code requirements.
"Once ICD-10 is live on October 1, 2014 and hospitals begin to stabilize, we will see renewed focus on Meaningful Use Stage 2 and Epic/Cerner 'upgrade' contract positions," Herda says. "But throughout 2014, coders, trainers and analysts looking for full-time employment will be most in demand."
