(firmenpresse) - OTTAWA, ONTARIO -- (Marketwired) -- 07/31/13 -- The Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) reminds travellers that the start of August marks the highest volume of border crossings throughout the year, and travellers should plan accordingly. At the height of the summer travel season, all major border crossing points will see the number of people entering to Canada increase, whether by vehicle or air.

The CBSA recommends that travellers plan their border crossing in advance to avoid busy travel windows such as afternoons, and Sunday evenings. The high-traffic window extends to Monday, August 5 for the Civic Holiday.

For those planning a road trip, why not check online or subscribe to the CBSA's service on Twitter? Wait times for the busiest highway crossings are regularly updated so travellers can get a sense of traffic volumes and plan accordingly.

One of the best ways to ensure a speedy border crossing is by having a valid passport, or being a . Dedicated NEXUS lanes are available at many major border crossings and members often enjoy significantly shorter wait times.

The CBSA's Web site highlights dozens of ways people entering Canada can increase the speed of their crossing, including a for making a quick getaway. A few minutes spent in preparation can save a lot of time later.
