Alomar, Coffey, Fleury Among High-Profile Athletes Coming to Calgary for Sports Show
(firmenpresse) - CALGARY, ALBERTA -- (Marketwired) -- 08/05/13 -- Canada's first ever sports convention, the YYC SportsCon, is just around the corner, and some more big names have been confirmed to be at the show next weekend, which is now taking place at BMO Centre in Exhibit Hall E. For those that remember the Battle of Alberta in the NHL in the 1980's and early 1990's, they will surely remember former Calgary Flames forward Theo Fleury, and one of the key cogs on the Oilers dynasty on the blueline, Paul Coffey. Both will be appearing at the show, doing different activities that involve fan interaction.
The show will be the first of its kind in Canada, with the focus solely on team sports, individual sports, fitness and health. More athletes have been announced in the last few weeks, including former Major League Baseball player, David Justice, who was a prominent character in the motion picture "Moneyball", starring Brad Pitt. Another big name that will be attending the convention is MLB All-Star Roberto Alomar, who is considered one of the greatest players in Toronto Blue Jays history.
Calgary's own, Bret "The Hitman" Hart, a former WWE standout, has also just recently been confirmed for the show. He will be one of many current and former athletes that will be at the event, signing autographs and doing photo ops with attendees. The most unique thing about this show is that a majority of the athletes that will be attending will only charge a small fee for an autograph or picture, and in some cases, there won't be any charge at all.
In addition to the athlete/celebrity component, a sports expo/tradeshow will also be taking place, with vendors/exhibitors from all aspects of the industry present. There will also be speaking sessions with media personalities and athletes. All of these are a part of the admission ticket. These are very reasonably priced for a first-time event, ranging in price from $20 to $30 for a full three-day pass, which can be purchased at yycsportscon.eventbrite.com. The convention will run from August 16th to August 18th at Stampede Park.
