According to the court documents associated with the case, the lawsuit was filed in the District Court of Clark County, Nevada. It was assigned to Department Number XVI and it was given a case number of A-10-629473-C. The lawsuit was filed in response to injuries allegedly suffered because the defendant, a local casino, did not properly maintain a safe premises for its foreseeable visitors. The plaintiff, an individual female, sought damages that would compensate her for the several different forms of loss that she incurred as a result of the incident in question.
The court documents further stated that the plaintiff was lawfully on the premises of the defendant when she unknowingly encountered a batch of grease that had accumulated on the casino floor. She allegedly slipped, fell and was badly injured as a result of slipping on this grease and she suffered serious injuries to her neck, to her back and to her ankle. These injuries required extensive and ongoing medical attention that included hospital observation, medication protocols and rehabilitation.
The court documents went on to allege that as a result of this incident, the plaintiff suffered several different forms of damages that included medical costs, lost income and pain and suffering among other forms of financial and non-financial losses. The court documents also alleged that the reason that the plaintiff incurred these damages was because the defendant either knew or should have known about the dangerous condition that was the grease and that the defendant failed to take steps to adequately protect foreseeable entrants onto the property from encountering it.
Rather than fully litigate the matter, the two sides were able to come together and successfully negotiate a settlement. In furtherance of the settlement agreement, a confidentiality agreement was executed that prevents anyone from discussing the case or disclosing the identities of the parties involved. In consideration for the settlement, the attorneys at dismissed the case and the matter is now considered closed.
