Purolator and the Calgary Stampeders Team Up to Tackle Hunger
11th annual event supports the Calgary Food Bank at a Critical Time
(firmenpresse) - CALGARY, ALBERTA -- (Marketwired) -- 08/07/13 -- On Friday, August 9th, the will take on the at McMahon Stadium and fans at this popular game are encouraged to bring non-perishable food items or cash donations to support the Calgary Food Bank at the annual Purolator Tackle Hunger food drive. The need for food and funds is even more critical considering the unprecedented flooding and the need will continue in the coming weeks, even months. The Purolator Tackle Hunger campaign will ensure that the Calgary Food Bank can continue to support the needs of Calgarians and Southern Albertans.
In exchange for a donation on game day, donors can get a digital picture taken with the Grey Cup. Plus every time a quarterback gets sacked, Purolator will donate the equivalent to the quarterback's weight in food to the Calgary Food Bank. Last year, Calgary football fans helped raise more than 7,300 lbs of food and $10,600 in funds through the game day food drive.

Purolator is committed to helping alleviate hunger in the communities where it operates by working closely their teammates, customers and food banks across Canada to collect donations and help raise awareness about the issue of hunger. Since its inception in 2003, has helped deliver the equivalent of more than 5.5 million pounds of food to food banks across Canada.
The distributes emergency food to more than 12,250 people every month, 41% of whom were children. The Calgary Food Bank is a food distribution hub, providing quality emergency food to individual Calgarians, 110 other local agencies, and 26 food banks in south and central Alberta.
