Statement of Becker & Poliakoff's Managing Shareholder Gary Rosen Regarding Consultant Richard Candia

LAUDERDALE, FL -- (Marketwired) -- 08/08/13 -- Becker & Poliakoff today issued the following statement from Gary Rosen, Managing Shareholder, regarding Richard Candia, one of the lobbyists facing federal charges related to the public corruption arrests in Miami Dade County. Mr. Candia surrendered to authorities on August 7th.
"On Tuesday, August 6, 2013, we learned about the alleged bribery scheme involving lobbyist Richard Candia. Mr. Candia, who was hired by our firm in February, 2013, resigned effective immediately that day. We were shocked and dismayed, to say the least, to learn of the allegations stemming from Mr. Candia's activities that started in 2011, long before his employment at our firm.
"The firm categorically states that it had no knowledge or involvement in any of the alleged illegal activities. Mr. Candia acted alone. The Daily Business Review reported yesterday, August 7th, that according to statements made by U.S. Attorney Wifredo Ferrer at his press conference on August 6th, 'Candia worked on his own in the alleged kickback scheme and acted without the firm's knowledge.'
