Männedorf, Switzerland, August 9, 2013 - The Tecan Group (SIX Swiss Exchange:
TECN) today announced that Dr. Achim von Leoprechting has been appointed a
member of the Management Board. As the new Head of the Partnering Business
division, effective October 1, 2013, he will assume responsibility for Tecan's
global OEM business, which has been led by Dr. David Martyr, CEO of the Tecan
Group, on an interim basis since the beginning of the year.
Dr. David Martyr commented: "I am very pleased that Achim von Leoprechting will
be strengthening our management team with his long-standing experience in the
life science sector. This is a further important step in the process of
reshaping our management team that I began at the beginning of the year. We now
have the right divisional leadership in place for our Partnering Business and
Life Sciences Business, with extensive domain knowledge, experience and
capabilities to support our future accelerated growth."
Dr. Achim von Leoprechting has 14 years of experience in a wide range of
management positions in the life science industry. Since 2002, he has worked in
various areas and held diverse positions with increasing management
responsibility at PerkinElmer Inc. (NYSE:PKI), most recently as Vice President
and General Manager Europe, Middle East, Africa and India. In this role, Achim
von Leoprechting was responsible for all Life Science and Technology business
conducted by the U.S. group in these regions worldwide. Prior to this, he held
positions with global responsibility for individual business divisions within
the group of companies, for example as Vice President and General Manager In
Vitro Solutions and Vice President and General Manager Imaging and Detection
Technologies. In addition, as European Sales Director Molecular Medicine / Bio-
discovery he was responsible for a regional sales organization for several
years.
Before working for PerkinElmer, Achim von Leoprechting held a number of
positions in product management at Packard Bioscience, which today is also a
part of PerkinElmer.
Achim von Leoprechting has a doctorate in biology from the University of
Freiburg (Germany). He is 45 years old and a German national.
