Giant tractors duel on the iPad(firmenpresse) - Kempten, March 2011. The sales figures of Apple surprise over and over again: the market demand of the smart phones iPhone and the tablet PC iPad reached record values in the past quarter. Since the commercial launch in April 2010 Apple sold nearly 15 million of the multimedia-based tablets iPad. Besides Internet, photo and video programs are most notably the applications, shortly named Apps that make the iPad so tantalizing.
These small programs allow a multitude of games, weather forecasts and virtual books on the iPad. For people that are interested in tractor and agricultural engineering there is with immediate effect the "Tractor giants" App available. Besides the US-giants Big Bud or John Deere there are also all famous tractors starting from Claas over New Holland to Fendt with lots of photos, videos and technical details to view in the App.
The tractor giants App uses all options of the Apple tablet PC: more than 18 tractor manufacturer can be accessed with their most important technical details as motor power rating, maximum speed, cubic capacity, weight and specification sheet. Different from a book, video clips can be played or the size of images of tractors can be modified per finger tap. Also with just a smooth finger tap one is able to hear the sound of motors on the iPad. For example by tapping on the Claas Xerion 5000"s engine hood, the App shows the motor there under. In numerous video clips the App user is able to view giant tractors as e.g. the Fendt Black Beauty in full activity in the forest.
With the function "Battle" the biggest tractors compete: By the scrolling technique Apple makes it feasible for the user: two tractors are chosen very fast, with a finger tap the winner in size, hp-number, weight and year of manufacture will be reported.
Altogether the "Tractor giants" App exhibit 76 tractor types from 18 different manufacturers. More than 200 photos and 160 minutes of videos display the tractors on American, Russian, French and German acres. Real motor sounds and many 360 degrees views make this first tractor App round.
The App was developed by the wk&f Kommunikation company in Kempten and is available in the Apple App-Store, the iTunestore for 1,99$.
