UFA to Award $250,000 to Five Deserving Communities
What would your rural community do with $50,000?
(firmenpresse) - CALGARY, ALBERTA -- (Marketwired) -- 08/15/13 -- UFA Co-operative Limited () wants to know what your rural community would do with $50,000. Build a rink? Upgrade your emergency equipment? Fix the community hall?
UFA will be awarding a total of $250,000 to five projects that support rural sustainability in the communities we serve. The winning community is responsible for selecting the next deserving community in a pay it forward style contest called the Rural From the Roots Up - Get 'n' Give Contest.
"We're really excited about this initiative," said Bob Nelson, President and Chief Executive Officer, UFA Co-operative Limited. "It's about people helping people, which is what a co-operative is all about. At UFA, we like to think of it as the ultimate rural act of kindness."
Applications will open September 10, 2013 and rural community groups, societies, schools and clubs are encouraged to start planning their applications. Creativity is important, so make a video, use a photo collage, sing a song or write a compelling story that details how $50,000 would benefit your project.
Rural community groups who are located within 200km of a UFA Farm & Ranch Supply store or Petroleum agency are welcome to enter.
