MULTIVAC Marking & Inspection presents direct web printer at interpack 2011
Thermal inkjet technology improves availability of the packaging line
Amongst the product innovations presented by MULTIVAC Marking & Inspection at interpack 2011, is the MR296TI direct web printer, which is a drive unit with the Wolke m600 printing system. The printer is demonstrated on the compact MULTIVAC R 145 for thermoform packaging, which is designed in the MULTIVAC Clean Design™. The use of thermal inkjet technology ensures maximum availability of the line, as maintenance intervals, set-up times and time spent on cleaning are kept to a minimum.
(firmenpresse) - MULTIVAC Marking & Inspection offers solutions for a wide range of printing applications directly on MULTIVAC packaging machines. All the standard printing technologies such as hot stamping procedures, thermal transfer and inkjet are used.
At interpack 2011, MULTIVAC Marking & Inspection presents its latest model, the MR296 TI direct web printer, on a MULTIVAC R 145 thermoforming packaging machine, designed for the MULTIVAC Clean Design™. This packaging solution is reliable and suitable for cleanrooms and in particular for applications in the medical and pharmaceutical fields.
The MR296 TI is a thermal inkjet printer which is suitable for multi-lane packaging solutions. Without the detour of first printing a label, the information is printed directly on the packaging web on the product in the HP thermal inkjet process. This produces an exact print image.
The MR296 TI is equipped with a Wolke m600 printing system. HP thermal inkjet technology enables perfect coding on both paper and on Tyvek®, a spun fibre fabric type of material, in a resolution of up to 600 dpi. Some of the benefits of HP thermal inkjet (TIJ) technology are minimal set-up times, low maintenance and long service intervals. This has several reasons: the cartridges in the printer are very quick and easy to change. In operation with the MR296 TI, the printing heads are sealed in the automatic parking position. This prevents the ink from inadvertently drying out. The cleaning function also ensures that the printing head secretes a few drops of ink in a selected position, shortly before the actual printing. This improves the press proofing after a printing interval.
The MR296 TI uses water-based, environmentally-friendly ink. This enables perfect, clean and fast printing. Cleaning or solvents are not required.
The MR293 TT model enables printing to be done in multi-lanes and multi-rows.
MULTIVAC Marking & Inspection also demonstrates the MR 293 TT direct web printer at interpack 2011. This is designed for printing multi-lane and multi-row formats in the upper web intake area and is positioned before the sealing station in the thermoforming packaging machine. In addition to thermal transfer printing, this model can also be used for hot stamping.
The operation of the two direct web printing systems at interpack, is fully integrated in the controls of the MULTIVAC thermoforming packaging machine. This means that the user can operate the printer directly on the packaging machine terminal. The printer's status messages are also displayed here.
Depending on the model, multi-lane and multi-row formats can be printed. Printing can be done either vertically or horizontally. “Our customers can choose a printing system from any of the major manufacturers. This means maximum flexibility is provided for the layout of the device”, says Volker Gerloff, the Managing Director of the business unit.
The direct web printing systems from MULTIVAC Marking & Inspection correspond to IP protection class IP65/NEMA-4, which is also applied to the future-oriented hygienic design of all MULTIVAC machines.

Unternehmensinformation / Kurzprofil:
MULTIVAC Marking & Inspection is one of the leading manufacturers of labelling and coding systems. The company, previously named MR Etikettiertechnik, was founded in 1972 in Enger, Westphalia, and has been part of the MULTIVAC group since 1993. The company's range of products extends from chain link conveyor and conveyor belt labellers, through cross web labellers and the technically unique Xbelt labeller, right up to case labellers and direct web web printing systems. The spectrum of labelling and coding systems is complemented by inspection systems, for example checkweighers, metal detectors and X-ray inspection equipment. All these units can be integrated into packaging lines and have great significance when it comes to fulfilling the regulations and legal requirements for the quality management of packaging lines. Not least, MULTIVAC Marking & Inspection is a competent business partner in all specialized enquiries for which a tailor-made solution needs to be found.
