International Law Program Is Ranked #13 in the U.S.

(firmenpresse) - CLEVELAND, OH -- (Marketwired) -- 08/29/13 -- Case Western Reserve University today announced the addition of an online LL.M. degree in International Business Law to its law school's other LL.M. programs. The LL.M. is an advanced law degree program, taught entirely in English, designed for students who earned their preceding law degrees outside the United States. This new program helps those lawyers learn to:

read and understand American case law and statutes;

research online American legal sources; and

understand and apply U.S. and international law relating to business transactions.

The online LL.M. in International Business Law is slated to start in January 2014. Students can complete the program in 16 months of coursework. Candidates must have a non-U.S. university-level degree in law and demonstrate English proficiency with a TOEFL of 90 or IELTS of 6.5.

Upon completing the program, students receive an LL.M. degree that can support advancement in private/corporate practice or within judicial or other governmental organizations within their countries.

"Understanding business legalities on a global level is critical in today's world," said Lawrence E. Mitchell, Dean of Case Western Reserve's School of Law and Joseph C. Hostetler -- Baker & Hostetler Professor of Law. "This online LL.M. in International Business Law helps lawyers gain the knowledge and leadership skills to succeed in settings around the world."

Case Western Reserve developed this online LL.M. offering for international lawyers who seek to earn a U.S. law degree without having to move to this country. The online LL.M. program provides students the flexibility to access courses anytime, anywhere, which enables them to maintain their current careers while developing skills to progress professionally.

The School of Law has offered LL.M. programs on its campus since 1992. To date, approximately 600 students, hailing from more than 60 countries, have earned their LL.M. degrees here.

Completion of the online LL.M. can lead to new professional opportunities. Graduates of Case Western Reserve's existing LL.M. programs have obtained high-level positions, such as:

Senior members of law firms

Judges

Professors

Deans of law schools

Elected members of national legislatures

Senior level administrators in business
