Heliocentris and Cummins sign Strategic Supply Agreement
* Heliocentris and Cummins sign five-year international supply agreement
* Energy Management Systems from Heliocentris become an integral part of
Cummins' Power Generation Solutions
Berlin - 17 September 2013: Heliocentris, a specialist in clean energy and
energy efficiency solutions, announced today that it has signed an
international supply agreement with Cummins Power Generation, a division of
Cummins Inc. (NYSE:CMI) and a global leader in the design and manufacture
of diesel generators and power generation equipment. Under this five-year
frame contract, Heliocentris will supply its innovative Energy Management
Systems to Cummins Power Generation and Cummins will integrate these
systems to offer to it's world wide customer base network-managed hybrid
energy solutions under Cummins brand.
Ayad Abul-Ella, CEO of Heliocentris Energy Solutions AG commented: 'The
agreement between Heliocentris and Cummins will allow us to address a much
broader customer base, as well as participate in new network, large scale
build-outs. Through the Cummins' network of distributors in more than 190
countries, we will be able to scale our business much faster. We expect
revenues in the mid double-digit million Euro range from this contract over
the next five years.'
Under the agreement, Cummins and Heliocentris will leverage their
respective leading technologies in power generation, hybrid energy
solutions and telecommunication network management to release the next
generation of integrated hybrid energy systems from Cummins. Such
integrated hybrid energy systems will continuously optimize energy
efficiency, network uptime and operational expenses of stationary
applications such as mobile base stations.
'After extensive testing of various systems, we identified the energy
management package from Heliocentris as one of the most flexible and
reliable systems in the market,' said Antonio Leitao, Vice President -
Power Products, Cummins Power Generation. 'Our leading diesel generator
offerings and global service network, combined with Heliocentris energy
management system will provide our customers with highly reliable power
systems that help meet sustainability goals while reducing their total cost
of ownership.'
Today, diesel generators are the main source of electrical power for
off-grid and unreliable grid applications such as mobile base stations. At
the same time, environmental concerns, rising fuel costs and operational
expenses are driving customers to reduce their CO2 emissions and total cost
of ownership.
Ayad Abul-Ella continued, 'Heliocentris has deployed more than a thousand
of Energy Management Systems globally and has reduced the annual diesel
consumption per 100 sites by approximately 1.3 million liters. This results
in 3.200 tons fewer CO2 emissions and a reduction of operating expenses by
more than 50%. Combining Cummins' superior power generating products with
our innovative energy management technology will allow us to take these
benefits to the next level.'
The Cummins diesel generator solutions, with the integrated energy
management technology of Heliocentris, will provide maximum uptime at the
least cost of ownership. The system will integrate seamlessly into
customers' Network Operating Centers, and be upgrade-ready, allowing the
integration of almost any renewable energy technology, such as Solar, Wind,
Fuel Cells and Electrolyser.
