(firmenpresse) - BARRIE, ONTARIO -- (Marketwired) -- 09/23/13 -- The Honourable Tony Clement, President of the Treasury Board, met with Barrie business leaders today to outline the Government of Canada's measures to reduce red tape for businesses, keep taxes low, and create jobs, growth, and long-term prosperity. Patrick Brown, Member of Parliament for Barrie, joined Minister Clement at the round-table discussion.

"As business leaders, you understand the importance of finding productive solutions to generate economic growth and prosperity," said Minister Clement. "Our Government is also focused on empowering entrepreneurs and business people to help unlock Canada's full business potential."

Minister Clement explained the Government's Red Tape Reduction Action Plan, which has saved Canadian businesses millions in administrative costs by eliminating business irritants in areas from tax and payroll to labour and trade. Launched last October, the Plan introduces time-saving measures like single windows and electronic submissions.

"As a former entrepreneur, I understand how annoying and onerous red tape can be," added Minister Clement. "Cutting red tape and making the regulatory process as pain-free as possible is one of the most important initiatives government can do to help business thrive, especially during a time of global economic uncertainty."

In addition, Minister Clement described the Government's new performance management regime, which will ensure that the public service is employed to its fullest potential.

"Canadians need and deserve a 21st century public service that is equipped to deliver modern, cost-effective and responsive service to Canadians," Minister Clement said.
