(firmenpresse) - SAN FRANCISCO, CA -- (Marketwired) -- 09/24/13 -- ORACLE OPENWORLD -- Oracle (NYSE: ORCL)

Further demonstrating extreme performance, Oracle WebLogic Server and Oracle Database running virtualized on a single Oracle SPARC T5-8 server have achieved a new world record result with the SPECjEnterprise2010 benchmark beating IBM's Power7+ benchmark result also running on a single virtualized server.

Today, Oracle announced that , a part of , and the #1 application server across cloud and conventional environments, outperformed the competition to achieve a new world record in a virtualized environment with the industry-standard SPECjEnterprise2010 benchmark.

The record breaking result was achieved with and running on Oracle's server with virtualized with . The configuration delivered the overall highest virtualized result with 36,571.36 SPECjEnterprise2010 EjOPS (1), delivering 3.3 times more performance than IBM's comparable 8-chip benchmark result (2).

Oracle's solution consisted of Oracle WebLogic Server 12c and Oracle Database 12c running on a single SPARC T5-8 server.

Both Oracle WebLogic Server and Oracle Database were virtualized with Oracle VM Server for SPARC. Both tiers communicated over physical network interfaces. Data files were distributed across 24 of Oracle's F40 Flash Arrays.

SPECjEnterprise2010 is a Java Platform, Enterprise Edition (Java EE)-based industry standard benchmark, which tests an end-to-end technology infrastructure that includes server hardware, Java Virtual Machine (JVM), database, operating system, storage and network subsystems.
