Wärtsilä, a leading global supplier of flexible and efficient power plant
solutions and services, has signed a long-term service agreement with Portland
General Electric Company (PGE) in the state of Oregon, USA to maintain the Port
Westward Unit 2 power plant engines. The ten year agreement is customized to
align with PGE's requirements to provide high availability and reliability of
prime mover performance, long-term planning, performance guarantees and a pre-
defined scope of maintenance services.
The service agreement also includes planning and management of scheduled
outages, continuous monitoring and feedback of plant data, and the flexibility
to adjust maintenance based on operating conditions.
"We are very pleased PGE has entered into a Wärtsilä maintenance agreement which
provides technical support, parts and safety spares inventory, as well as risk
sharing support in managing its Port Westward Unit 2 operations," comments Aron
Rader, Area General Manager, Agreement Support, Wärtsilä.
The Port Westward Unit 2 plant is being built for Portland General Electric, an
investor-owned utility. It will be powered by 12 Wärtsilä 50SG natural gas
fuelled engines with an electrical output of approximately 220 MW, and is
scheduled to be fully operational in 2015. The Port Westward Unit 2 project will
be one of the first power plants in the USA using Wärtsilä 50SG engines.
