North Sur Resources Inc.: Surface and Drill Sampling Commences at Uptown Gold Project
(firmenpresse) - CALGARY, ALBERTA -- (Marketwired) -- 09/26/13 -- North Sur Resources Inc. (TSX VENTURE: NST) ("North Sur" or the "Company") is pleased to announce the commencement of field work at the Uptown Gold Project near Yellowknife, NWT. The Uptown Gold property is comprised of 7 contiguous mineral claims totaling 3,386 hectares and is located approximately 3 km north of Yellowknife, adjacent to the historic Giant and Con gold mines. The Property has been the focus of both exploration and small scale mining activities since gold was discovered on site in the early 1960's. Most recently, Manson Creek Resources Ltd. ("Manson") confirmed reported historic gold (Au) grades and discovered appreciable silver (Ag) mineralization with two sampling programs in the Spring and Fall of 2012.
The current exploration program will be comprised of geological mapping, channel sampling and shallow drilling with a man portable Winkie drill. The property hosts multiple gold and silver bearing shear, vein and breccia occurrences over a strike length in excess of 3km. This round of exploration sampling will focus on two important zones. The Fox South area is located in close proximity to the Giant mine and only 700 meters from the contact with the Yellowknife Greenstone Belt, host to several precious metal mineral deposits. Surface sampling at the Rod Zone has returned Au grades greater than 20 g/t with Ag grades in excess of 100 g/t. Mr. Regan Chernish, PGeol and President of Manson, will be conducting and overseeing the field program.
As reported on August 12, 2013, North Sur Resources Inc. completed the arms-length acquisition of Manson Creek's interest in an option to acquire the Uptown Gold Property from Panarc Resources Ltd. The acquisition of the interest in the Uptown Property has enabled North Sur Resources to complete its Qualifying Transaction and subsequent listing on the TSX Venture Exchange as of August 12, 2013. North Sur Resources is pleased to have the opportunity to move the Uptown Gold Property forward and hope to build upon the success of the exploration work already completed. Results from the exploration work will be released once the assay and mapping data has been received and compiled by the Company.
