(firmenpresse) - VARENNES, QUEBEC -- (Marketwired) -- 09/27/13 -- The Canadian Renewable Fuels Association (CRFA) today lauded the Government of Canada's ongoing support for domestic biofuels . This investment in Sustainable Development Technology Canada's (SDTC) NextGen Biofuels Fund™ is an important step forward in the development of advanced renewable fuels in Canada.

"Canada has all the elements necessary to become a world leader in clean energy. Attracting investment is crucial for developing this potential and bringing innovative, clean-burning Canadian fuels to the marketplace," said W. Scott Thurlow, CRFA President. "The NextGen Biofuels Fund™ continues to be an important beacon for this capital. Facilities supported by this fund will further diversify our fuels mix, making our natural resources more prosperous and sustainable for generations to come."

With the support of SDTC, the collaboration between GreenField Ethanol and Enerkem Inc. will produce clean burning renewable fuels from waste that would otherwise be destined for landfills.

"This project is testament not only to the power of industry collaboration but also the capacity and strength of Canada's clean fuel innovators," said Thurlow. "The CRFA applauds the federal government's ongoing commitment to renewable fuels production and innovation in Canada."
