Transparent LCD from eyevis
(PresseBox) - Eyevis has introduced a new display technology which will revolutionize the digital signage and presentation market. It is a transparent LCD, which is available in 22" in color or black and white, there will be soon also a 46" available. The LCDs operate by using ambient light without internal backlight. This is made possible through the use of a special diffuser plate and a transparent wave guide. As the LCDs use ambient light, that means that the displays consume less energy than older technologies (less than 90% than conventional LCDs).
The light transmission for color mode is 85% and for black/white mode it is 90%. The 22" LCDs will be available with a contrast ratio of 500:1 in WSXGA+ (1680x1050 pixels) resolution and come with a HDMI input. The transparent LCDs enables to look through the display like glass and put for example an exhibit behind and illuminate it from the back. This is a perfect application for museums, shopping malls in order to show a product or exhibit and put some additional information or an animation on the LCD. The LCDs could also be equipped with interactive features like touch systems for example. The product is dedicated for creative people who make the content for such signage solutions or for AV system integrators who develop a complete concept.
