Nordic Mines: The Laiva mine produced 259 kilos of gold during Q3 2013

The gold production at the Laiva mine amounted to 259 kilos during the third
quarter 2013. The company has in conjunction with the filing for corporate
reorganization in July, switched to process ore from earlier mined ore in
stockpiles, which contain a lower head grade. Total gold production year to date
2013 amounted to 881 kilos gold.
The gold production during the quarter was 79 kilos in July, 87 kilos in August
and 93 kilos in September.
Since the filing for corporate reorganization at the beginning of July, the
company has temporarily ceased mining due to cost savings. During the corporate
reorganization, the company processes ore from already mined ore at the
stockpiles. The ore in the stockpiles contain a lower head grade than the ore
taken straight from the mine into the processing mill. The head grade was 0.8
gram gold per ton for the third quarter compared to 1.0 gram gold per ton in the
second quarter.
The throughput remained stable at a higher level, but was negatively impacted by
maintenance stops and was 363 424 tons for the quarter. The gold recovery
remained stable at 86%. The availability was 82% compared to 86% in the second
quarter. The decrease is mainly due to two planned longer maintenance stops, one
at the beginning of July of roughly six days and one in September of roughly 4
days.
